Key Sentences
1. V-辞書形 + ところです (just about to do)
これから 任務に 出かける ところです。

2. V-ている + ところです (in the middle of doing)

3. V-た + ところです (just did, this moment)

Grammar Patterns
the three ところ phases, ばかり, はず.
V + ところです — three phases of time
ところ pins the action to right now. 辞書形 ところ = about to (まだ). ている ところ = in progress. た ところ = just finished (this instant).
V-た ところ vs V-た ばかり
Both = 'just did', but た ところ = literally seconds ago, in this scene; た ばかり = recently, even days ago, with a feeling of 'still new'. 日本に 来た ばかりです (I only recently came to Japan).
普通形 + はずです
A logical expectation: from what you know, it should be so. な-adj な はず / N の はず. Negative: 来ない はず / 来 なかった はず. (≠ べき = 'ought to / obligation').

「た ところ」 is tighter than 「た ばかり」
食べた ところです = I just finished eating, the plate's still here. 食べた ばかりです = I ate not long ago (could be an hour). Use ところ for the immediate scene, ばかり for "recently / still new".
はず = expectation, not duty
はず = "it should be so" (I'm confident from logic). べき (later) = "you ought to" (obligation). 「来る はず」 = I expect him to come. 「来る べき」 = he ought to come.
