Too Much.

Mike was past his limit. Three nights with almost no sleep — he had worked too much.麦克已经越过了极限。三个晚上，几乎没睡——他工作过头了。麥克已經越過了極限。三個晚上，幾乎沒睡——他工作過頭了。Mike đã vượt quá giới hạn. Ba đêm gần như không ngủ — anh đã làm việc quá sức.

すぎます always sounds like "too much" (a problem)

It's not neutral "very" — it signals something has gone past the right amount. 食たtaべすぎました = I ate too much (regret). For plain "very", use とても.

〜く します vs 〜く なります

します = someone makes it so (暗くらkuraく します, I darkened it). なります = it becomes so by itself (暗くらkuraく なりました, it got dark). Same adjective form, different agent.
