Grammar Patterns

そう from appearance, and 〜てきます.

Shows a guess from how something looks.

Looks like it won't:

Go somewhere, do the action, and come back: 買かkaって きます (go buy and return). Also marks a change that has begun: 寒さむsamuく なって きました.

Grammar Picture

そうです = a guess from what you SEE 降ります→降りそうです 危ない→危なそうです 買ってきます(go · do · come back)
「降ふfuりそう」 vs 「降ふfuるそう」 — one letter changes everything

降ふfuり そう (ます-stem) = it looks like rain (you see dark clouds). 降ふfuる そう (plain form) = I heard it will rain (L47, hearsay). Watch the stem!

Two irregulars to memorize: 「いい」 becomes よさそう, and 「ない」 becomes なさそう. 元気げんきgenkiがなさそうです (he looks low on energy).

Roleplay Practice

describe how things look.

(What will you do?)
